Job/Position Summary

Key responsibilities include creating electrical schematics, writing, and troubleshooting PLC computer software, and testing & trouble-shooting the efficacy of the installed program for high volume automated manufacturing lines.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Developing PLC software for automation equipment.
  • Ability to program & interface to Intelligent devices such as Vision, Robots, Servos, Welders, Testers, Solder Equipment, etc.
  • Follow industry best practice norms to ensure robust software design.
  • Develop & document electrical & pneumatic schematics & panel layouts to support automation equipment builds.
  • Ability to take ownership of large tasks and/or projects with little or no assistance from others.
  • Testing automated systems for efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting system errors.
  • Providing manufacturing plants with technical support.
  • Anticipate system needs, identify problems, think creatively and methodically develop software solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Detailed knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages.
  • Knowledge of PLC Software Engineering principles and tools for software development
  • Proficiency in PLC Discrete Controllers, HMIs, Motion Control, Test and Measurement
  • Proficiency in CAD and AutoCAD software.
  • Familiarity with Robot & Intelligent Devices application in real world applications.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development for manufacturing and automation equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work several hours at a computer.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international) as needed.

Working Environment

  • Standard office/tool-room environment.
