Overview
Position Summary
We’re looking to hire a talented, self-motivated individual for a full-time summer internship that will support our Commercial Finance Team with analyzing financial data, assessing business performance, and contributing to strategic decision-making processes. This role will directly interact with key internal partners and provide exposure to various aspects of commercial finance, including revenue analysis, pricing & promo optimization, and financial planning.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, you will:
- Have a solid understanding of Commercial Finance within a CPG organization
- Understand the dynamics of different distribution channels and retailers
- Utilize syndicated data platforms to pull data, analyze, and draw insights
- Learn to analyze and optimize trade spend strategies to maximize ROI
- Generate insights through analyzing the effectiveness of promotional activities
- Develop effective presentation skills to communicate data/insights and recommendations in a team setting
Responsibilities
Pricing and Promotion Reporting
- Develop and enhance competitive pricing transparency with the sales organization
- Report on weekly pricing and promotional activity at top retail accounts
Promotional Analysis Project
- Evaluate current competitive landscape and identify competitor presence in the category
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and promo effectiveness
- Conduct a comprehensive comparison analysis of competitive promotional activities
- Develop an introduction promo strategy for new product launches in the category
- Present findings and recommendation to the Commercial Finance Team and Sales Leadership
Qualifications
- Candidates are typically pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large data sets
- Excellent attention to details with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task with excellent follow through and task completion
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong team player, ability to work with diverse cross-functional teams
- Problem solver, able to work independently to produce quality results
- Thrives in fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Salary: $22.00/hour
