Job Description:

Department Description

The AIS Systems Engineering team is responsible for the definition of system architectures, the development of embedded software

applications for Ethernet Endpoint products, the system and software verification, as well as the maintenance of released projects.

This department consists of three groups, which are the Software and System Architecture team, the Software and System Verification team

and the Apps and Systems Engineering team located in Chennai. In addition, close cooperation with the IC Design team in Austin is essential

when defining architectures and developing embedded software.

You will work in the Software and System Verification team, which accompanies and supports the development process in close cooperation

with the specialists from the development area by performing structured, appropriate, and meaningful tests.

What will you do in this position:

As a Principal Test Engineer, you are responsible for developing and expanding the test infrastructure to specify, implement, document and execute automated system tests.

You will report and inspect failed tests using measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, high-end protocol- and logic analyzers.

A high-level understanding of the system, the requirements, and the architecture in combination with your good analytic skills helps in finding

the causes of errors. First experience with automotive processes, such as Automotive SPICE and ISO 26262 or other functional safety

standards is desirable.

Key job responsibilities/duties include:

  • Development/maintenance of test automation and embedded test infrastructure
  • Reviewing system and software requirements and architectures
  • Creating test specification and implementing test cases for new products
  • Execution of test cases, analysis of test results and reporting defects
  • Supporting with customer feature requests and defect reports
  • Contribution to internal/external process assessments

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering degree in electrical engineering or computer science from a university or similar institution of higher education
  • Experience in embedded software development or test engineering for about 7 years

Competencies:

  • Strong embedded software development skills preferable in C or C++
  • Standard peripherals and protocols like I2C, SPI, I2S
  • Scripting languages, e.g., Python or Groovy
  • Testing frameworks
  • Experience in testing and verification methodology (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester)
  • Experience in the use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
  • Knowledge in software development processes (e.g., Automotive SPICE, ISO 26262)
  • Knowledge in time-sensitive networking (AVB/TSN technology) would be beneficial
  • Strong logical and debugging skills
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
