The NI Transportation Business Unit has an immediate opening for a Systems Electrical Engineer for our Systems R&D team, focused on exciting projects related to autonomous driving and electric vehicle test. In this role, you will collaborate with the cross-functional development.
Core Responsibilities
- Support the development of components and systems through release
- Create/design/model/prototype/test electronics and integration solutions for NI systems
- Select and approve components
- Create schematics and design collateral
- Hands on for build and test of prototypes and systems
- Provide manufacturing support throughout system production
- Support purchasing to ensure quality delivery
- Define and prioritize tasks and leverage resources to complete tasks on time
- Review work quality with mentors and technical leaders
- Ensure adherence to development processes and best practices
- Facilitate decisions necessary to deliver a quality product in a timely fashion
- Interact with customers, other NI staff, and partners in support of designing and deploying new systems and features
- Accurately identify customer and industry needs and provide ideas for new systems and features in the transportation industry
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering with an electrical focus
- Understanding of systems design principles and ability to identify and solve system engineering problems
- Experience using NI hardware and software is a plus
- Strong knowledge of analog design principles including designs using operational amplifiers, filters, and transistors
- Proficiency in both frequency-domain and time-domain designs or advanced proficiency in the design of control systems
- Knowledge of:
- Analog to digital converters, digital to analog converters, and power supply components and design
- Testing and troubleshooting techniques
- Signal integrity, layout, and grounding principles
- Basic digital design fundamentals
- Basic understanding of computers and programming languages (e.g. C, C++, LabVIEW, assembly language)
- Interest in learning about and working with analog, digital, and computer technologies
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Lead and work effectively within and across teams
- Problem solve effectively; diagnose technical issues and propose effective solutions
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
