Why is this role really critical to us? 

We are looking for a Big Data Architect with experience in designing, building and managing applications to process large amounts of data in a Hadoop/ Spark ecosystem. You’ll provide expert guidance to source and integrate structured and unstructured data from dozens of local data sources including streaming data feeds into a data lake.As a Big Data Engineer, you will work closely with the team and our stakeholders to build and deliver solutions for a next generation Big Data Analytics platform. You will have a focus on realtime data streaming, data management, data quality, data security and deliver the systems that process huge volumes of data. How will you spend your time at Vodafone?

You will be responsible to drive architecture and the design of Big Data solutions with the high system design skills and leadership 

• You’ll be designing and producing high performing and stable applications to perform complex processing of petabyte scale data in a Hadoop based environment or Cloud based env.
• Analyzing multiple sources of structured and unstructured data to propose and design data architecture solutions for scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, and elasticity.
• Defining roadmap with the architectural vision and technical leading of big data and other it stakeholder teams. 
• Development or documenting conceptual, logical and physical design for various data types and large volumes.
• Implementing Big Data Architecture in alignment with enterprise architecture rules and Vodafone Golden rules like reusability, API first, scalability, resiliency, and that.
• Building real-time data stream architecture which are integrated with business systems to enable value from analytic models to drive rapid decision making.
• Defining Micro-Service based data services solution architecture on Openshift.
• Sourcing, ingesting, wrangling and validating datasets, building pipelines to transform data and produce analytical records for machine learning
• You’ll have extensive experience with performance tuning applications on Hadoop and configuring Hadoop based systems to maximise performance.
• You'll take ownership and increase automation and scale of complex data sets that drive use cases by our analytical partners. This includes Telco data, real time triggers, application performance data, network throughput and device debug information.
• Implement security, hashing or encryption based best practices to align with PII principles.

You are just the person we ve been looking for, if you have:

• BS degree or higher in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Math, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or another quantitative field)
• You have a software engineering mindset. You may even be a software engineer with a focus or passion for data-driven solutions.
• Minimum year experience in designing, building and managing applications to process large amounts of data in a (Cloudera) Hadoop ecosystem 
• Have programming proficiency in SQL, Python and Scala/Java
• You’ll build robust data pipelines that output very high data quality at scale using combination of Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Python or Scala.
• Experience with Cloud Native development on private cloud systems.
• Building real-time data processing applications which are integrated with business systems to enable value from analytic models to drive rapid decision making 
• Experience in designing, building and managing applications to process large amounts of data in a Hadoop ecosystem
• Experience with Linux systems, including bash programming
• Experience with noSQL distributed databases like Apache Hbase, Apache Phoenix and Apache Kudu
• Experience with other distributed technologies such as Cassandra, Solr/ElasticSearch, MongoDB is a plus
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (Apache Airflow, etc.) is a plus
