Children's Hospital at Erlanger

Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is a Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center (CRPC), the highest state designation for pediatrics. It offers a full complement of pediatric subspecialists, a pediatric ER and an ICU, and a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, providing the region's highest level of critical care for infants.

Nurse Residency Program:

Our ANCC-accredited program helps new graduates and RNs with less than a year of experience smoothly transition into the role of professional nurse through clinical training, classroom instruction, peer support, and mentoring. With three cohorts per year – Winter, Summer and Fall – we’ll help you improve your success in clinical practice, while attaining career goals. 

Program Features:

  • Advanced clinical classes that include Critical Care Course, Acute Care Course, Periop 101, and Pediatric Didactic
  • Clinical rotations in a variety of units before committing to a home department
  • The opportunity to meet with hospital experts to learn about topics related to patient outcomes, leadership, and professional development at Erlanger
  • Educational Seminars for your first year of employment
  • Erlanger is an Accredited Practice Transition Program from the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Career Tracks Offered for June cohort:

  • Pediatrics – Emergency, Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, Surgery and Acute Care
  • Adult Critical Care (Critical/Emergency care experience preferred) - Medical, Trauma, Surgical, Neurology, Cardiology, and Emergency
  • Adult Acute Care/Med Surg - Cardiac, Oncology, Trauma, Neurology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Renal
  • Adult Intermediate Care – Cardiac Step Down Unit, Trauma Step Down Unit, eSTAR Surgical Unit
  • Women's Services - Labor & Delivery, Mother & Baby
  • Surgical Services - Perioperative Nursing
  • LPN Track – Adult Acute Care/Med Surg

RN Track - QUALIFICATIONS:

At Time of Application:

  • Eligible for graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with an Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing prior to employment.

Education and Licensure Requirements at Time of Hire:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX for Registered Nurse Licensure. Proof of graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (final transcript, diploma or letter stating NCLEX eligibility and test date) Spring graduates must obtain Tennessee RN licensure by October 1st, Summer graduates by January 1st, Winter graduates by May 1st.
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.

LPN Track - QUALIFICATIONS:

At Time of Application:

  • Eligible for graduation from an Accredited School of Practical Nursing prior to employment.

Education and Licensure Requirements at Time of Hire:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam for licensed professional nurse (LPN). Proof of graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing (final transcript, diploma or letter stating NCLEX-PN eligibility and test date) Spring graduates must obtain Tennessee RN licensure by October 1st, Summer graduates by January 1st, Winter graduates by May 1st.
  • BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
