The senior accountant will oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. This role combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating and/or managing a team of accountants.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining monthly general ledger entries and facilitating monthly close schedules
• Monitoring bank balances via an online interface; recording activity to the general ledger daily
• Preparing accurate and timely monthly account reconciliations, financial statements, and analysis
• Communicating with external auditors and assisting with all audit schedules and reports
• Preparing accurate and timely internal and external reports
• Initiating process improvements in applicable accounting functions
• Documenting, analyzing, and communicating monthly transactional details
• Maintain, monitoring, and documenting strong internal controls
• Cross-training in various other accounting functions

Core Strengths and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
• 3-5 years accounting/finance experience (CPA license and public accounting experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of accounting theory, GAAP, and a willingness to research and resolve accounting issues
• Experience with medium to large ERP and accounting systems (Great Plains a plus)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties
