About the job

As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will work across our customer/client base to improve and support Apache Airflow implementations and Astronomer's best-in-class managed service. Our customers range from seed-stage startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. Using your expertise as a Solutions Engineer, you will implement Apache Airflow in a manner that follows best practices and allows continued growth, and will speak to and deliver solutions around Apache Airflow and the Astronomer platform.

In this role, you will deliver solutions around Apache Airflow and the Astronomer platform. You'll engage with customers and partners to ensure successful Astronomer implementation post-sales and post-onboarding. You'll be a trusted advisor and help architect data pipelines across all types of environments and use cases. You'll have the opportunity to engage with the Apache Airflow project, a thriving open-source community with thousands of global contributors.

What You Get To Do

  • Own a small number of our most important accounts, ensuring our largest and most strategic customers are extracting the most value out of their Astronomer investment.
  • Exercise empathy for customers, advocating for their use-cases, to help inform and drive Airflow and Astronomer product roadmaps.
  • Work with customers in optimizing data pipelines, perform code refactoring, and provide them solutions to conform to industry best practices.
  • Inform the product roadmap by identifying and documented Airflow/Astronomer improvements through client interactions.
  • Prioritize and execute solutions to customer challenges.
  • Implement and advise customers on the benefits of leveraging the latest Airflow features in their data engineering pipelines.
  • Contribute to the Airflow Ecosystem and steward the open source community

What You Bring To The Role

  • Data-engineering experience (4+ years).
  • Experience with Apache Airflow in production environments.
  • Communication skills that allow you to know what to say and, more importantly, how to say it regardless of the medium (slack, email, webinars, pair programming sessions).
  • Experienced with creating DAGs, writing Python Scripts, SQL and Database concepts.
  • Docker and Kubernetes (or similar infrastructure tooling) knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working on short and long-term Customer engagements
  • Ability to explain highly technical issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Comfort leading presentations and product demos to large groups.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Implemented ETL/ELT processes in production using Modern Data Stack, with products such as Cloudera, Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, ETL Technologies or other analytics solutions.
  • Built and maintaoned CI/CD pipelines.
  • Built automation tools, custom operators or hooks.
  • Excitement about the challenge of delivering an awesome Astronomer experience to hundreds of customers.
