Position Summary

The Vice President, Marketing & Communications is tasked with telling the Hartford HealthCare (HHC) story internally and externally to consumers, providers, payers, regulators, policymakers and more. Effectively telling the HHC story requires a marketing communications team led with an innovative approach, experience in successfully managing teams across multiple geographies in a highly collaborative, matrix, fast-paced environment to cultivate and sustain a cohesive team. The Vice President will develop and deliver strong go-to-market strategies, create compelling positioning and messaging, and build thought leadership around the institution's transformational approach to delivering Access, Affordability, Equity and Excellence (A2E2). 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages the HHC brand and serves as Brand Champion
  • Furthers brand understanding and messaging across all key constituents, external and internal
  • Leverages brand value, oversees brand governance and the evolution of brand architecture, visual identity, brand value proposition, brand voice/tone and other cornerstones
  • Oversees brand tracking and measurement as well as supporting organizational market research, competitive intelligence activities, assessing industry and competitive trends and market dynamics
  • Leads the organization in identifying opportunities for marketing innovation reinforced by proven experience, best practices, and customer insights to support business growth
  • Leads HHC marketing communications strategy, directing internal, external, brand communications, and driving high-priority efforts to significantly enhance stakeholder communications including internal and external providers, patients, donors and more
  • Enhances HHC’s digital engagement tools and offerings
  • Develops and delivers strong go-to-market strategies, creates compelling positioning and messaging that support our advocacy efforts
  • Refines and executes the organization-wide brand strategy for HHC, to increase market awareness, brand strength, and identifies opportunities for marketing innovation reinforced by proven experience, and customer insights to support patient acquisition and business growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or English is required
  • Five plus years of senior level communications and marketing leadership experience in healthcare or comparable industries is required
  • Significant experience in marketing strategy with strong expertise in driving brand strategies that extend the reach and reputation of an organization, helping to deliver a clear voice and identity in the market
  • Able to gain trust and credibility at the executive level, with demonstrated ability to align the organization internally around critical brand and marketing initiatives
  • A track record of exceptional relationship building; a demonstrated success and desire to interact with community and media representatives to establish credibility and build stronger ties
  • Be a visionary with a deep understanding of traditional and innovative communications and marketing strategies and a proven track record of executing campaigns and initiatives that drive brand awareness and demand within a consumer-oriented brand
  • Creative vision and leadership with the ability to recognize and create superior, high-impact creative content that engages audiences and creates exceptional experiences
  • Exhibit success in leveraging social media to create engaged and passionate communities that successfully define and expand a brand’s ability to have market impact
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic abilities and attention to detail while keeping a long-term view of organizational and issue messaging
  • Highly organized and disciplined with a strong work ethic and sense of urgency. Demonstrates self-initiative and is able to accept delegated responsibilities and initiate change. Deadline-driven, able to manage multiple responsibilities and is results/goal-oriented
  • Highly creative and known for thinking “outside the box” and for generating multiple ideas
  • Positive energy, confidence in presenting to audiences of all sizes and the ability to work across organizational lines and influence fellow leaders
