Remote-first

Since March 2020, our Zoomers have worked remotely and reported an overall better work-life balance with more time for family and personal wellness.

At the end of 2021, LegalZoom made the official commitment to being a remote-first company. Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. While we remain a remote-first culture, our local offices have evolved as collaboration spaces for Zoomers to meet and engage in person.

This position will be (remote/or SF Bay Area, LA Metro, and Austin Metro office location/s).

Overview

The Data Science and Engineering team at LegalZoom is pivotal in driving informed, data-driven decisions across the company. Our focus spans from refining marketing strategies to conducting rigorous experiments that gauge the effectiveness of these strategies. As a Senior Data Scientist on our Data Science team, you will play a crucial role in addressing fundamental questions that shape our business. You will delve into challenges like identifying the most promising prospective customers, segmenting customers to tailor engagement strategies effectively, and optimizing pricing strategies to enhance revenue from key subscriber segments. Your insights will be instrumental in steering better business decisions.

You will

• Conduct advanced causal inference analysis to understand the underlying mechanisms driving business growth, focusing on marketing spend, sales operations and product;
• Utilize machine learning techniques to predict customer behavior and business outcomes, informing strategic decisions.
• Lead the design and implementation of robust experiments to validate your hypotheses, including defining key metrics to understand customer interactions and responses.
• Analyze and interpret experimental results, translating them into actionable strategies and recommendations for reaching and engaging customers more effectively.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and dashboards, ensuring the accessibility of critical metrics and insights for broader business consumption.
• Thought partner with the Business teams (Product/Marketing/Operations), guiding them in data-driven hypothesis formation and decision-making processes.
• Champion a culture of data-driven experimentation and continuous learning within the organization.

You have

• If M.S. degree, a minimum of 1+ years of industry experience required and if Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 2+ years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent
• Proven expertise in applying causal inference methods and/or advanced machine learning techniques in a business context.
• A strong track record of influencing business strategy through data-driven insights, considering both immediate and long-term implications.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing technologies.
• A solid foundation in experimental design, including A/B testing, multivariate testing, and causal analysis.
• The ability to extract meaningful insights from large data sets and effectively communicate these findings to a diverse audience.
• Relevant experience in marketing or product data science, consulting, or a related field.
• Familiarity with product/marketing analytics analytics.
• Good understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and both relational and dimensional data modeling.
• A proactive mindset, eager to introduce innovative ideas and not just execute predefined strategies.

LegalZoom is a remote-first company and the national range for this role is ($100,800-$205,200). Actual compensation offered will depend on several factors including but not limited to: geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or other business and organizational needs. In addition, an annual bonus, incentive bonus and/or restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package.
