About the Role

As the Business Controller, your purpose is to oversee financial planning, analysis and reporting for the company. You will be the Subject Matter Expert for key systems and models within FP&A and Reporting. In this role, you will be asked to interpret actuals, forecast and budget data and provide commentaries and insight. You will be an expert in financial data analysis, able to provide insights and recommendations to the management team. Your role will be instrumental in driving the company's financial success and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the management reporting process for actuals and budgets/forecasts, including variance analysis and commentaries
  • Developing and optimizing the financial reporting tools within Centre of Excellence
  • Delivering the reporting and analysis on Month-End and RF cycles
  • Providing and interpreting financial information for Sales and Revenue or Costs
  • Delivering process improvements within the Finance and Non-Finance community within Elsevier and sharing best practices with the user community
  • Helping ensure that senior management's priority information requirements are delivered and "operationalized" on a timely basis
  • Supporting the organisation in analyzing and monitoring trends and advising accordingly
  • Improving the capabilities of tools in collaboration with a broad variety of stakeholders

Requirements

  • Possess excellent knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting, process and systems
  • Be a self-starting, adaptable learner with a can-do mentality
  • Demonstrate competency within financial accounting, with advanced technical expertise and understanding of internal controls
  • Be comfortable navigating a complex and demanding, highly-matrixed environment
  • Demonstrate advanced management reporting and analysis capability, with experience owning business unit process
  • Possess advanced project management skills, with the ability to evaluate and communicate the impact of project dependencies
  • Experience planning, budgeting, forecasting and creating comprehensive reporting decks
