Opportunities Available

As an Engineering Intern at Stryker, you will be placed in one of the following teams:

Quality

Advanced Quality

AQE interns work on engineering projects related to development of new products. Areas of emphasis may include human factors engineering, risk management, application of statistics, reliability engineering, design verification, and design validation including customer interaction. As Homer Stryker pointed out, “If your tools don’t work, make them work. If you can’t make them work, make some that do work.” In this directive, the AQE team works to make sure that the products we develop at Stryker will work consistently for our customers to meet or exceed their expectations. 

Quality

Collaborate on cross-functional teams to ensure high product quality, addressing user needs, safety, and reliability. Manage post-market quality processes and design changes.

Process Quality

Analyze and resolve production issues using CAD, root cause analysis, and validation techniques to optimize quality and processes. 

Supplier Quality

Oversee critical suppliers, ensuring manufacturing standards through close collaboration, technical assessment, and internal coordination.

New Product Development

Collaborate on cross-functional teams to research and design new products using tools like CAD and FEA, ensuring alignment with customer needs, business requirements, and regulations.

Product Engineering

Work with cross-functional teams to enhance current products through research, using tools like CAD, FEA, and root cause analysis. Improve product safety and efficacy.

Test Lab

Partner with Test Engineers and R&D to experiment with prototypes, test product designs, and perform quantitative verification. Gain hands-on experience across various technical specialties.

Manufacturing

Collaborate with Design and Operations to enhance manufacturing processes, fixtures, and assembly lines. Apply lean principles and improve safety and ergonomics. 

Robotics

Collaborate across divisions to develop innovative robotic systems for orthopedic surgeries. Contribute to various stages of development, from hardware and software design to accuracy studies. 

Packaging Engineering:

Develop innovative packaging solutions based on customer input. Work with cross-functional teams to support packaging design changes and adhere to regulatory requirements.

Regulatory

Collaborate with multiple departments to support regulatory decision-making, prepare global regulatory submissions, and assist in post-market reporting. Stay updated on changing regulations.


Clinical/Biomedical Engineering:

Cross-functional collaboration to assist clinical research programs. Gain exposure to clinical research landscape, accompany site monitoring visits, prepare literature reviews, and participate in collaborative development processes.

What You Need

  • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent; we will only consider students who plan be enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the summer
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and also will be verified during background check in the spring
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge in one or more programming languages (e.g. C#, C++, Java, Python, etc)
  • Knowledge in software engineering (e.g. Architecture, Design, Implementation, Algorithms, Build, Deploy, Computer Architectures, Unit test, System Test, etc)

Travel Percentage: 10%
