OHSU has three missions: healing, teaching, and discovery. In the School of Nursing, these focus to optimize health, prepare nurse leaders, and transform health care. Infusing these is a fourth: to become a trauma-informed and truly anti-racist institution. The School of Nursing has made the same commitment. We, along with all of OHSU, are striving to become a place where every member can be safe, be at their best, and do their best work. With support from OHSU leadership and the Center for Diversity and Inclusion and using a trauma-informed approach, we are transforming our culture, policies, admissions, hiring, and more.
SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nurse‐midwife, clinical nurse specialist, or nurse anesthetist), may function in all of the missions of the School. The faculty member will be assigned teaching, scholarship/research, and service responsibilities by the program director in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with the scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.
