We are looking for a Financial Accounting Expert (m/f/d) – based in Munich or Hamburg.

Your Team 

At AGCS our Accounting department is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely production of AGCS’ financial information, that produces valuable financial insights for the company and helps to protect its assets.

The Impact You Will Have 

Reporting to the Head of Global Insurance Processes (GIP), you will be part of a diverse and experienced team that has global reach. You will be responsible for the insurance related positions in the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements. Furthermore you will be prepare quantitative reporting, handling insurance technical interfaces and tools. You also proactively contribute to projects and process improvement initiatives at a global level.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Ensure that all assigned closing and reporting tasks based on international and local accounting regimes are accurate and performed in time. 
  • Make sure that all reporting internally or to auditors and regulatory authorities are performed in high quality.
  • Implement and refine the technical accounting processes for e.g. IFRS 17 in this regard document application of policies, procedures and workflows.
  • Take care of regulatory and Allianz Group accounting policy changes and ensure compliance with data flows and processes.
  • Substantiate AGCS' global balance sheet and P&L and identify and review conspicuous entries and take required actions (e.g. proactive communication to relevant stakeholders, error correction and process improvements).
  • Manage relationship and show high customer focus in dealing with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. other departments, Group Accounting, auditors, business units, reinsurers, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.).
  • Proactively contribute to projects and process improvement initiatives at a global level.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • You have a degree (ideally Master’s) in Business Administration, Business Mathematics/Informatics, Finance or Accounting
  • About 5-7 years of experience in P&C (re-)insurance accounting, financial audit, controlling or similar financial area
  • Proven understanding of standard accounting (IFRS 17, Solvency 2, HGB) in insurance and reinsurance and familiarity with the relevant legislation and standards
  • You are resolutely customer-focused with the ability to handle complex processes including understanding of data flows
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and follow up abstract issues and root causes
  • Advanced Excel skills to quickly analyze data and draw the right conclusions. VBA and Access skills are a plus.
  • Experience as active user of SAP BW and preferably SAP FI. Demonstrated efficient use of Excel and/or Access.
  • Comfortable working both in a team and independently, in an international and dynamic environment.
  • Fluent English skills required, German skills advantageous
