DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION II

City of Chicago Department of Transportation

Division of Administration

Finance Section

Total Number of Positions: 1

Under general supervision, manages and supervises administrative functions in support of the operations of the department of Transportation’s Administration-Finance section.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists in managing the coordination and preparation of corporate and non-corporate budgets to ensure appropriateness of funding allocations. 
  • Assists in establishing and implementing internal audit systems and financial controls to ensure the appropriate use of funding. 
  • Oversees the preparation of operating and special program budgets; authorizes invoices for payment to vendors; advises management on budgetary requirements and personnel rules, policies and procedures. 
  • Prepares reports on productivity, operating and personnel costs and administrative work operations for management review. 
  • Participates on projects to streamline administrative and programmatic procedures in order to create cost efficiencies. 
  • Prepares budgets and oversees the maintenance of accounting and financial records and prepares various fiscal reports to account for corporate and non-corporate fund expenditures. 
  • Attends and coordinates bi-Weekly meetings with IDOT.

Salary: $75,996/Annually

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration or directly related field, plus four years of budgetary, human resource or office administration experience of which two years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

  • Previous supervisory experience directly related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Previous work experience with developing program budgets and financial statements, contracts management and account payable and receivable processing.
  • Previous work experience with grant fund accounting and cost accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in the application of accounting principles, analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial expenditures and prepares cost projections and related financial reports.
  • Proficiency with analyzing financial controls and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
