Our Team

The Engineering team at Whatfix provides end-to-end engineering throughput that forms part of core platforms and services that drive Whatfix's business.

Our team is responsible for creating the Customer Platform and everything around it - be it Analytics, Infrastructure or Core Algorithms. The team owns and is responsible for all pieces that we design, build and support end to end for Whatfix product/ business.

To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced cloud engineer who has expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience in managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge are essential to keep us on the cutting edge. The cloud engineer will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IT operations and an ongoing impact on growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop highly scalable, reliable and fault-tolerant systems for one of the world’s fastest-growing startups
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design
  • Understand the customer needs; design & implement
  • Envision project goals, product architectural solutions with a high focus on detail to ensure successful implementation
  • Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
  • Articulate complex problems communicating viable architecture and design approaches in a clear and concise manner
  • Enhance the agile SDLC within the Development Team through new learning, continued growth, and applying industry best practices and processes
  • Keep optimizing & automating mundane tasks

You'll be a core member of the team. 

Individual growth is important to us. We schedule time every week to explore an interest or learn something new. Team members have also used it to do everything from learning new algorithms to playing with the new framework, to exploring what the new analytics layer could be used for. We also take some time each day to discuss what we're working on, and even pair programs to teach each other about parts of the codebase. There's no risk of stagnation in this job, you would still be hands-on after a few years.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience 4-7 years experience on products running on private and public data centers.

Direct work experience and proficiency in a few of the below technologies and frameworks:

  • At least 2 years of strong experience with production Kubernetes infrastructure with exposure to the use of cloud vendor Kubernetes solutions such as EKS, AKS, and GKE.
  • Strong experience with data sources and caching mechanisms like Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra. Hadoop.
  • Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures.
  • Java, Spring boot, Web services
  • Scale-out architecture, micro-services, docker containers, orchestration 
  • Scalability and performance 
  • Distributed architecture and high availability
  • Design and development of large scale applications
  • A self-motivated with a strong customer focus and obsession with quality
  • Excellent communication and technical skills
  • A can-do attitude and entrepreneurial spirit to conceive ideas, turn challenges into opportunities and build products
  • Qualification Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science.
