These positions are open to the public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with the INTERNATIONAL UNION OF OPERATING ENGINEERS, LOCAL 399 (BU #12).

CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION
Under immediate supervision, operates and maintains steam turbine and electric motor-driven pumps, high pressure boilers, fans, and heating and air conditioning units in City buildings, water purification plants, heating and refrigeration plants, and pumping stations, and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION
Location: O’Hare International Airport
Hours: 40 per week
Shifts/Days Off: Vary, Holidays and Weekends.
Note: Days and shifts to be covered on as needed (24/7) basis
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.
Candidates selected for hire must pass an airport background check, a Drug Test and a Security Treat Assessment (STA).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of education, training, and experience suitable to obtain a Stationary Engineer’s License.
Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications
A valid Stationary Engineer's license issued by the City of Chicago is required
Certification as a Universal technician as required by 40CFR part 82 subpart F of the EPA.
A valid Illinois Driver's License is required.
Candidates selected for hire must pass a Ground Motor Vehicle Operating Regulation Basic Driving test (Yellow Stripe) administered by the Chicago Department of Aviation, within 60 days of hire.
Candidates selected for hire must pass an airport background check, a Drug Test and a Security Treat Assessment (STA).

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires candidates to PASS a skills’ assessment TEST and to answer AFFIRMATIVELY a Willingness and Ability Questionnaire in order to be considered. Bidders who successfully apply for the position, meet the minimum qualifications, and PASS a skills’ assessment TEST, will be hired in seniority order and according to the CBA rules. NON-BIDDERS who successfully apply for the position, meet the minimum qualifications, PASS a skills’ assessment TEST, and answer AFFIRMATIVELY a Willingness and Ability Questionnaire, will be hired in LOTTERY ORDER.
