Build by McKinsey, part of McKinsey Digital, is our tech delivery people unit—a global team of software, data and cloud engineers, passionate designers, technology architects, product owners, Agile coaches and leading technologists. Our multidisciplinary squads work side-by-side with business strategists and experts from Cloud by McKinsey and QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey. Together, we design and create industry shaping products and tools for our clients.

What You'll Do

You will be primary owner of architectural planning and tech delivery, participating in coding efforts where it is most needed—based on capacity or the complexity of the challenge—and acting as the key driving force behind understanding the overall product needs. 

You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of industries and technologies across the globe, often working on client sites. You’ll shape architectural discussions and technology-related decisions, and inspire technology executives through presentation of your recommendations. You will lead an AGILE Scrum feature (engineering) team through each sprint as a seasoned advisor of continuous planning, estimation, delivery, integration and deployment. 

As a team leader, you will ensure that other team members adhere to our coding standards and deliver code according to the overall technical guidelines for the given product. You will act as a key thought leader to stakeholders in product design, architecture, and technology choice discussions and work closely with all team members and partners from day one. You’ll provide regular feedback to team members, be engaged in their development, and serve as a mentor for less senior colleagues. Your work will shape the team, creating a common mindset, consciously attracting and selecting diverse and high caliber talent.

Qualifications

• At least 6+ years of relevant experience solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS / Azure, Google Cloud etc.)
• Experience leading engineering teams, technical decision making and setting technical direction
• Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary product team
• Previous commercial experience working collaboratively with other engineers in small to medium-sized project teams
• Commercial experience designing, building, and deploying solutions for clients
• Commercial experience in contributing to the development of small to medium-sized projects such as libraries, frameworks, APIs and software development tools
• Ability to write production level code in React or Nodejs or .net, JavaScript, and typescript 
• Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to clients and partners
• Know how and when to quickly involve any stakeholder into any given problem, using a top-down communication approach
