You will join our Budapest office as part of Build by McKinsey.

Build by McKinsey, part of McKinsey Digital, is our tech delivery people unit—a global team of software, data and cloud engineers, passionate designers, technology architects, product owners, Agile coaches and leading technologists. Our multidisciplinary squads work side-by-side with business strategists and experts from Cloud by McKinsey and QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey. Together, we design and create industry shaping products and tools for our clients.

What You'll Do

You will implement technical solutions as defined together with your team, always striving to understand and match the user need. You’ll be exposed to a wide variety of industries and technologies across the globe often working on the client site. This will include quickly and competently delivering impeccable code for the invented high-impact, end-to-end user stories as part of an Agile Scrum feature team. 

As an Engineer you will impact user stories by estimating and collaboratively breaking them down into tasks. You will contribute to team brainstorming around technical issues, engage in problem-solving exercises, work closely with team members, and directly interact with partners from day one. 

There is flexibility to hire at the levels of software engineer or senior software engineer depending on the candidate's experience. As a senior software engineer, you would have additional duties to those listed above, which include: acting as a key thought partner and push the team thinking forward on technical issues; and being a mentor to less senior colleagues by providing regular feedback to team members, being engaged in their development, and reviewing the code of less senior engineers in the context of our coding standards and overall technical product guidelines.

Qualifications

• At least 2+ years of relevant experience solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to write production level code in React or Nodejs or .net, JavaScript, typescript
• Previous commercial experience working collaboratively with other engineers in small to medium-sized project teams
• Commercial experience designing, building, deploying solutions for clients
• Understanding of cloud environments (e.g., AWS / Azure, Google Cloud etc.) would be an advantage
• Know how and when to quickly involve any stakeholder into any given problem, using a top-down communication approach
• Commercial experience in contributing to the development of small to medium-sized projects such as libraries, frameworks, APIs and software development tools
