Let’s care for tomorrow.

Your ambitions. Your dreams. Your tomorrow.

At Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty SE (AGCS), we are the global leader for insuring corporate and specialty risks in the Allianz Group. Whether it’s aircraft, satellites, the world’s biggest ships and tallest building, cyber-attacks or climate change impacts, Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty (AGCS) has the major risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses.

We are looking for an Actuary (m/f/d), based in Munich or Hamburg.

Your Team

The Actuarial Closing & Forecasting team’s primary responsibility is for the monthly calculation of the IBNR according to IFRS and local German GAAP as well as for the discounting process needed for the quarterly market value balance sheet under Solvency II. The team prepares the quarterly Loss Reserve Committee meetings as well as the annual Reserve Report and contributes to several other internal and external communications. The forecasting again covers IFRS, local GAAP and Solvency II topics. We work closely with various other functions in the company, especially the “finance focused” departments. Last but not least, we provide expertise and insight to the wider Allianz Group as well as external stakeholders such as auditors, Regulators and tax officers.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Head of Global Actuarial Closing and Forecasting, this is a great opportunity for either a part-qualified Actuary or an Accountant with a strong actuarial understanding to join a high profile team that is the interface between Accounting and Actuarial. Your main tasks will focus on effective delivery of actuarial KPIs and balance sheet positions, across IFRS, SII and HGB. You will make a significant impact on the continuous improvement of quality, checks and controls in the monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reporting processes. You will use your excellent communication and analysis skills to present and explain insights and understandings of the results within the actuarial teams as well as to key stakeholders e.g. Accounting and Global Performance Steering.

You will be an essential part of the Closing team, ensuring the timely and effective coordination of accounts as well as providing expert support and steering of Company results.

This role works across multiple accounting standards: IFRS17, Solv II and HGB and offers an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their skills and understanding in these areas.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include

  • Support the team leader to deliver timely, clear and accurate actuarial KPIs and repots and balance sheet positions within the closing, forecasting and planning processes in different legislative environments, particularly IFRS, SII and HGB.
  • Promote close collaboration and interaction within the team and the various key stakeholders, particularly in Accounting and Global Performance Management to encourage understanding how business developments impact actuarial drivers in the financials.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in all our processes, particularly to improve the quality in forecasts, achieving a high predictability.
  • Peer review work from other team members and provide training and guidance to junior colleagues.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Good experience in relevant P&C insurance areas, ideally actuarial reserving or technical accounting, with experience in IFRS or HGB or Solv II (training and support will be provided to upskill across all accounting legislations.)
  • Strong balance sheet understanding across different legislations (IFRS, Solv II and HGB)
  • Strong experience of closing and reporting related topics
  • High level of analytical ability and capable of clearly communicating results and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, ideally within a global environment.
  • Fluent English skills
