As new R&D Structural Engineer, you will join our Structural/Acoustics/Thermo-Mechanics (STAT) network team in the Swiss Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of structural, acoustic and thermo-mechanic analysis, simulation and testing. As part of our global R&D community including Technology Centers and Research Centers worldwide, you will contribute to support all factories in the PG Dry, Traction and Distribution Transformers on innovative and challenging research projects. You will focus on developing new technologies and products, optimizing existing ones and on supporting different engineering offices around the world.

Your responsibilities

  • Finite Element simulation of structures subject to all types of static and dynamic loads (fatigue, impulsive, short-circuit, seismic, etc.)
  • Develop new automations for the structural, thermomechanical and acoustic assessment of products
  • Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances
  • Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products
  • Lead product and technology development projects in the field of Dry, Traction and Oil Distribution Transformer, delivering results on time and on budget at agreed scope and quality
  • Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tools team
  • Provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing and sales etc.)

Your background

  • PhD / MSc education in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering field
  • Existing work experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of structures subject to aerodynamic and structural loads
  • Good knowledge of vibro-acoustic simulation of electrical machines as transformers and reactors
  • Experience in the finite element analysis and in the use of the following software: ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Maxwell
  • Knowledge of the following programming languages: Matlab, Python (Visual Basic optional)
  • Solid bases in vibrational fatigue and dynamics
  • Experience in structural testing and use of sensors such as strain gauges, load cells and accelerometers
  • Project management skills
  • Action and result oriented mindset

  • Excellent communication skills and team spirit
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience in the use of nCode DesignLife software
  • Experience in the use of MS Project
  • Spanish basic
