As R&D Engineer, you will join our Technology Center in Spain - Zaragoza, an organization leading continuous research and development activities on transformers. As part of our R&D Technology Center, you will contribute to the development of projects related to the mechanical performance of dry transformers. As a member of a highly skilled Technology Center, part of the global Hitachi Energy R&D community, you will run projects and contribute to the successful roadmap execution.

Your responsibilities

  • Study the effect of static and dynamic loads to the mechanical structure of dry-transformers by means of finite element method analysis
  • Propose and analyze modifications in the mechanical structure of dry-transformer to optimize its cost meanwhile fulfilling all technical requirements with and adequate level of safety
  • Define the details of the corresponding validation test
  • Design and supervision of the manufacturing and testing of the prototypes
  • Prepare the documentation of the tested ideas and derive the design rules of the validated solutions
  • Lead the RD project execution, to ensure the performance, time and cost are within the expectations
  • Support other RD colleagues by analyzing and designing the mechanical design of other RD projects
  • Provide punctual technical support to factories, salespeople and customers

Your background

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering. BSc degree will be also considered depending on other courses and experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in mechanical analysis and design of structures submitted to high dynamic loads conditions, such as the ones installed in windmill applications
  • Experience in mechanical design of dry transformers shall be well valued
  • Solid knowledge in CAD modelling software (preferably CREO)
  • Proficiency in use of mechanical FEM simulation (preferably ANSYS)
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Initiative, creativity and great attention to detail
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach and strong communication skills
