These positions will enable the successful candidates to get first hand legal/business affairs experience within a fast-paced television network, the home of hit series like "The Walking Dead", “Better Call Saul,” “Into the Badlands” and other scripted and non-scripted television and digital series. Two positions will be available and candidates MUST specify to which position they are applying in their cover letter. AMC/SundanceTV/WE tv Networks : This position will be overseen by the Vice President Legal & Business Affairs for AMC, and will work closely with other attorneys and staff members at AMC, SundanceTV, and WE tv. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing, summarizing, organizing, and occasional drafting of programming, production, marketing, license, and talent agreements with supervision and instruction. Additional responsibilities will include researching intellectual property and new media issues, examining piracy issues, and reviewing and commenting upon footage and music licenses. This will be a paid internship in AMC’s New York office. AMC Studios : This position will be overseen by the Senior Vice President Legal for AMC Studios and will work closely with other attorneys and staff members at AMC Studios. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing, summarizing, organizing, and occasionally drafting, agreements relating to television production, co-production deals, IT, digital, interactive gaming, music and corporate agreements. Additional responsibilities will include researching intellectual property rights, new media issues, examining piracy concerns and reviewing programming footage ]. This will be a paid internship in AMC’s New York office. All candidates must currently be enrolled in a J.D. program and be in good academic standing. Consideration for the position will be limited to candidates who are (or will be) second or third year law students and have completed basic contracts and legal research and writing courses; completion of intellectual property classes and/or prior intellectual property work experience by interested candidates is preferred. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as excellent writing skills. Candidates must also be reliable, flexible, detail-oriented, able to anticipate client needs and work with minimal supervision; handle confidential matters discreetly; and exercise good judgment. A strong work ethic, positive attitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities is a must. Demonstrated knowledge and interest in the entertainment industry is preferred.
