Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.

The IB&M Finance Asia team comprises teams across Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai. The teams look after the end-to-end finance functions including product control, across all business units that roll up into the IB&M branches which include business units representing IB&M and all support functions. You will be a part of the Shanghai Finance team which is responsible for providing timely and accurate statutory, regulatory and management reporting for the CBA Shanghai branch to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

We are seeking an Assistant Manager Finance to be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of statutory and regulatory returns, financial statements and management reports including budgets. You will also be involved in projects to ensure that the CBA Shanghai branch is compliant with changes in accounting standards and regulations.

Key tasks:

  • Perform Accounting and Finance related functions for the CBA Shanghai Branch (the Branch) and liaise with other associated branches, regional offices and the Head Office;
  • Assist in Product Controlling process;
  • Prepare management reports, requested APRA regulatory returns and taxation matters (including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax and transfer pricing);
  • Prepare and/or review local CBIRC, PBOC, SAFE regulatory reports and Tax returns within required timelines;
  • Co-ordinate with auditors and verify audit report and MOE;
  • Be a subject matter expert on current and upcoming changes to regulatory instruments issued by the local regulators;
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant accounting standards and tax regulations

To be successful we are seeking:

  • Good experience on China banking regulatory filings and systems
  • Independent, ability to work unsupervised
  • Team player with strong collaboration skills
  • Methodical, concise and accurate, with strong attention to detail
  • Numerate with good understanding of financial products including loans and trade finance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel and Access skills
