The Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) program is seeking a Junior Java Engineer to support software development activities. The purpose of the FORGE program is to develop an open framework for processing overhead data from Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) missile warning satellite constellation, next-generation persistent infrared (Next Gen OPIR) satellites, and other data from civil and environmental sensors.

FORGE software engineers participate in all aspects of the software engineering lifecycle, to include: design of software components, developing code, updating technical documents, generating and executing test procedures, integration of software components, peer review of software artifacts, troubleshooting and resolution of discrepancy reports.

What You Will Get To Do:

“Attention – A new college graduate with a background in Java” is needed to support the Forge program where you will work in an agile environment performing all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will get to:

  • Work in an Agile DecSecOps Environment
  • Design Software Components and Code
  • Create and Execute Test Procedures
  • Integrate and Troubleshoot Software
  • Write and Update Technical Documents

This position is located in Omaha, NE

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Coursework or practical experience developing applications in Java, or other higher-level Object-Oriented programming languages (Java preferred) using the SDLC
  • Experience working within the Linux environment
  • Ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Qualifications That Are Desired:

  • Experience programming in Python, JavaScript
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Experience working within a team environment using Agile/DevSecOps methods and tools, to include Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, GIT, Maven, Bitbucket
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying applications with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity hardened solutions
  • Familiarity with geospatial processing, satellite data processing, and/or weather data processing

Required Education (including Major):

Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/College.

GPA of 3.0 cumulative or higher is desired. Please include your transcript with your resume
