ERM is looking for a driven, detail-oriented Consultant to join the Asset Management team in Dordrecht. You will work on interesting site investigation, risk assessment and complex soil remediation projects throughout the Netherlands and possibly abroad, for a variety of industrial clients. About the service you will offer to our clients
ERM’s Asset Management Service is aimed at helping clients resolve environmental liabilities and realize maximum value from their contaminated land challenges. We strive to develop risk-based soil and groundwater remediation strategies to protect human health and ecology, whilst satisfying our clients’ business goals and meeting regulatory obligations. We manage their risks and clean up their balance sheets, while keeping a close eye on costs and managing stakeholders’ expectations. Our global services include site investigation, risk assessment, remediation and redevelopment strategy development and implementation to help capture value from our clients’ active facilities and discontinued operations across the globe, supported by decommissioning and demolition services where needed.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Work in collaboration with other (senior) consultants and partners in international teams to deliver contaminated site management projects from the investigation until the remediation phase.
- Depending on project size and complexity, manage entire projects or support senior project managers with proposal writing, project planning and delivery.
- Conduct environmental fieldwork ambient air and soil gas sampling; oversee subcontractors during soil drilling and installation, operations and maintenance of remediation systems.
- Scope areas include Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, vapour intrusion investigation, remediation feasibility studies and pilot testing, preparation of remedial action plans, bid documents and technical specifications, implementation of full-scale remediation projects. The project sites we work on are typically active facilities or legacy sites for clients in oil and gas, chemical manufacturing and other industries, as well as Brownfields.
- Coordinate laboratory services and interpret / visualize environmental data.
- Draft technical reports, recommend appropriate actions to ensure the client’s objectives are met and comply with all regulations.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and meeting the client’s objectives.
- Communicate with all project stakeholders (peers, clients, managers, subcontractors, regulators, …).
- Perform health and safety planning and oversight: ensure safety of oneself and team members during project operations.
Our ideal candidate:
- Bsc or Master degree in an environmental discipline such as earth sciences, environmental sciences, physical geography, hydrology/hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, chemistry or similar.
- 4 to 7 years’ experience as an environmental consultant or managing projects as a remediation contractor.
- Native Dutch speaker, highly proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Driven, eager-to-learn, open communicator, proactive in tackling problems and providing solutions.
- Thrives in a collaborative working environment but is also able to work independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication, organization and analytical skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
- Has working knowledge of the Dutch contaminated land legislation and of soil and groundwater remediation techniques; is eager to stay on top of latest developments in field of expertise. Being BRL certified is a definitive plus!
- Is willing to travel for work from time to time (typically <5 consecutive nights).
- Has a driving license (B).
