Job Title: Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting (Contractor)

SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager Technical Accounting and Reporting (Contractor) is responsible for the management of the preparation of our SEC filings and external reporting working closing with Investor Relations, Legal, external auditors, as well as others involved with the filings. In addition, the position functions as a technical accounting expert, staying abreast of new accounting pronouncements and interpretations and assisting in their implementation, as well as for the monthly and quarterly accounting for key technical areas. Responsibilities also include oversight of the accounting for facility leases and lease accounting system. This position manages a small team including an SEC Manager and Sr SEC Analyst and reports to the Corporate Assistant Controller. Position is located in San Jose, CA as has potential as contract to perm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management and review of all SEC filings, oversight of writing, researching and analysis of alternatives by working closely with Assistant Controller, Corporate Controller, CFO, internal and external legal counsel, accountants, auditors and others providing input and review.
- Preparation of analysis and support for the quarterly earnings calls. Support Investor Relations with review of analyst presentations and questions.
- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting, including disclosure controls and procedures, are adequate and operating effectively
- Perform technical research, prepare position papers on regulatory matters that affect the company’s accounting and reporting treatment on various matters and summarize and present to management the financial implications and alternatives to issues or new accounting guidelines.
- Ensure new technical accounting and reporting rules are timely and properly implemented including working with business to apply technical guidance in a pragmatic manner.
- Will participate in monthly/quarterly financial close review to ensure appropriate accounting and provide training on accounting issues to finance and business personnel as needed, including training on US GAAP to both US and international finance personnel.
- Review of quarterly stock compensation expense, statement of cash flows, earnings per share calculations, assessment of private investments and monitoring and analysis of goodwill and purchased intangibles.
- Responsible for global accounting for our facility leases and oversight of the lease accounting system.
- Involved in due diligence for acquisitions including assistance in valuation of purchase price with third parties and work with Corporate Accounting for the opening balances.
- Interface with executive management, Audit Committee, Board of Directors, external auditors and outside legal counsel.
- Responsible for responding to other financial reporting requirements, including government surveys and informational reporting requirements.
- Assist on special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess uncompromising business ethics
- Skilled in U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
- Possess proficiency in technical accounting and experience in general accounting operations
- Recent experience in evaluating accounting pronouncements and position papers including strong knowledge of Lease Accounting
- Current knowledge on upcoming new accounting pronouncements and ability to guide teams on implementation requirements.
- Highly motivated, detail oriented and team oriented
- Ability to manage individuals and projects
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to work with management and cross-functional groups
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Must meet strict deadlines and effectively manage stress; Adjusts quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment to achieve results
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting or Business
- CPA required with active license
- 4-5+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred)
- 3-5+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in publicly held companies
- Experience with WDesk/Webfilings preferred
- Experience with eXtensible Business Reporting Language (“XBRL”) tagging
- Experience with Sarbanes Oxley requirements for external reporting
