Group Controller

As a Group Controller, individual will be an essential member of Niagara Bottling's (the Company’s) Accounting and Financial Reporting group, reporting directly to the Director of Financial Reporting and Controller. We are looking for someone who is driven, hands on and who wants to learn and grow with the Company. Individual should be a good communicator, detail oriented and strong with technical accounting under US GAAP concept and principles. Individual will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity and accuracy through daily management (of General Accounting, Purchase Accounting, Business Integration), problem-solving processes, and strong internal controls. The Group Controller will also support in the accurate and timely closing of the accounting records and month end reporting.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the managing and the support of one global Chart of Accounts (COA) within Oracle EBS and Financial Consolidation reporting tool for entities within the Group;
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of the Group;
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the GL modules for entities within the Group;
  • Support operational and accounting function of Oracle EBS;
  • Ensure accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with US GAAP, industry related accounting principles and practices, company’s accounting policies, chart of accounts, and sub-ledgers;
  • Responsible for the annual US GAAP audit for the Group; including review/preparation of other non-GAAP journal entries to US GAAP and remain in close contact with the country controllers around the world;
  • Responsible for the Group in implementing new US GAAP (ASC 606 and ASC 842) accounting and provide additional accounting research and memos as necessary;
  • Responsible for the purchase accounting for the Company’s acquisitions and many business ventures/transactions as necessary and as they become part of the Group;
  • Responsible for the Banking needs of the Group;
  • Responsible for managing and setting FX rates between USD and multiple currencies;
  • Responsible for managing and performing translation and remeasurement for the Group;
  • Ensure the accuracy, quality and efficiency of accounting reconciliations;
  • Be the lead Accounts Reconciliation Cloud Services (ARCS) administrator, the accounts reconciliation tool; including reconciling to sub ledger details, manual journal entries, allocations, eliminations, translation adjustments, system rule changes, troubleshooting and becoming the main ARCS contact for the Group;
  • Responsible in ensure all counterparties of the US Parent entity has also reconciled their balances and matches that of the US Parent/International Holding Company/other counterpart(ies);
  • Advise staff regarding the handling and recording of non-routine transactions;
  • Support accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close;
  • Support preparation of periodic financial statements and analysis;
  • Ensure a clean and timely year-end audit, including support of the external financial audit process; including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation;
  • Collaborate with management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems to enable timely accumulations, adjustment, and reporting of financial data;
  • Support internal project to have process narrative documented and key preventive and detective controls in place for major financial statement cycles;
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department;
  • Support process improvement initiatives for development, enhancement, upgrade and maintenance of accounting systems;
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from other managers with the Company and the Group;
  • Resolve escalated issues from department with internal and external customers;
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed;
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year, monitor, and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff;

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • 6 Years – Experience in Accounting and Financial reporting
  • 4 Years – Experience in Public Accounting
  • 4 Years – Experience managing people/projects

  • 10+ Years– Experience in Accounting and Financial reporting

Competencies

  • Strong background in month end close and reporting;
  • Understanding and experience of US GAAP, equity accounting, purchase accounting, business combinations, dispositions, and cash flows;
  • Experience with ARCS or other account reconciliation tool;
  • Experience with large ERP systems, Oracle preferred;
  • Experience with integrating accounting systems, manage to tight cut-over deadlines;
  • Proficient knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • Detail oriented;
  • Ability to work well with other team members and supervise, train and motivate staff;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
