Applied Technology is a custom design center within Motorola Solutions. We create proof-of-concept and lower-volume specialty communications products for government and private industry. Our customer-centric, team based environment provides an excellent growth opportunity for engineers and developers in enterprise markets where innovation is the primary focus. 

Job Description

Ideal candidates for this position are engineering professionals with 5+ years experience in RF/Antenna Circuit design. Diverse knowledge and a wide variety of interests, especially in embedded systems and wireless communications.

You will be a member of a small (1-6 person) multi-disciplinary team, and will be responsible for the design of receiver front ends, transmitters, and synthesizers for a variety of advanced wireless communications products. You will be involved in all phases of projects: requirements, system architecture, design, modeling, bench testing, and release to production.

You will work closely with other engineers (hardware, software, FPGA, mechanical) and you will have a hands-on role in product integration and testing. You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision. Projects can vary greatly from one to the next, so you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges.

As you will be working in a small project team and regularly interacting with customers, excellent communications and teamwork skills are essential.

Preferred Skills Required:

• Detailed understanding of RF electronics and simulation tools
• Discrete RF design experience required
• Thorough understanding of RF test equipment and measurements
• Experience with Schematic capture tools, Cadence Allegro a plus
• Wide breadth of Hardware design preferred - including power supplies, A/D's, peripherals, batteries, charging circuits, etc
• Understanding of Antennas - design, simulation tools and measurements preferred
• Strong background in general electronics
• Experience in telecommunications technologies preferred

Must be a U.S. citizen with. the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts. Some contracts may have higher-level clearance requirements.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's Degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years design experience
