Job Description

This Full Stack Software Engineer role focuses on leading the implementation of key software technologies for a digital construction platform being built from the ground up. You will act as a trusted technical expert, design and develop reusable web components and APIs, collaborate closely with UX and backend engineers, and help grow the technical capabilities of the organization. Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of core software technologies that power a digital construction platform developed from scratch.
  • Serve as a trusted expert on technical aspects of business-critical problems, providing guidance on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy reusable web-based components, libraries, and APIs for use across a suite of applications within the platform.
  • Collaborate with UX designers to enhance the Design System and implement new user workflows for the platform.
  • Work closely with application and backend engineers to manage relationships between authored model data, backend data, and rendering layers.
  • Implement technical solutions and best practices within the organization and advocate for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to growing the technical competencies of the organization through education, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
  • Build and maintain production-quality web applications using modern full stack technologies.
  • Participate in an engineer on-call rotation after onboarding, providing support coverage for deployed systems.
  • Support and integrate software applications with complex construction hardware such as robotic printers, sensors, controls, and remote support infrastructure.

Essential Skills

  • Strong full stack engineering experience with modern web technologies.
  • Strong TypeScript experience and proficiency in building production web applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Node.js for backend or full stack development.
  • Experience working with AWS for cloud-based infrastructure and services.
  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL for relational database design and querying.
  • Experience with GraphQL for building and consuming APIs.
  • Comfortable developing front-end applications that interact with complex backends.
  • Experience shipping production software in a real-company environment.
  • Approximately 5 years of relevant software engineering experience preferred; strong candidates with around 3+ years of experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with UX designers, application engineers, and backend engineers.
  • Coachable mindset with openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow, with a proactive and curious approach to new technologies.
  • Collaborative working style and ability to contribute effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and comfort working across disciplines, including software, hardware, and operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with React for building modern user interfaces.
  • Experience with Redux for state management in front-end applications.
  • Familiarity with RxJS or reactive programming concepts.
  • Startup experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Exposure to 3D visualization tools or frameworks.
  • Experience building or supporting CAD-related applications.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda or serverless architectures.
  • Experience with Docker for containerization and deployment.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
  • Interest in or experience with construction technology, robotics, sensors, and control systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
