We're Hiring | Senior Backend Python Developer

📍 Location: Toronto, ON

We're looking for a Senior Backend Python Developer to join a high-performing engineering team building secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions within a core banking platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python, microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, SQL/MySQL, messaging, and system design, with a proven ability to own large initiatives end-to-end.

💻 Must-Have Skills

✅ 5+ years of Software Development experience

✅ Strong Python Backend Development experience

✅ Microservices & Distributed Systems

✅ RESTful API Development

✅ Strong SQL & MySQL

✅ RDBMS concepts – Transactions, Isolation Levels, Locking & Deadlocks

✅ RabbitMQ or similar Message Brokers

✅ Docker / Containerized Applications

✅ GitHub or similar code repositories

✅ Linux / Unix environments

✅ Strong System Design & Technical Design experience

⭐ Nice to Have

• Banking / Financial Services / FinTech experience
• Cloud experience – AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Payroll Provider integrations
• Time & Attendance platform integrations
• Experience working on high-volume transaction processing systems

🚀 What You'll Do

• Design and develop scalable backend services and microservices
• Build secure, high-performance distributed systems
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs
• Own large initiatives from technical design through production delivery
• Create technical design specifications and contribute to architecture decisions
• Optimize application performance to meet SLAs
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical discussions
• Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams

🎓 Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Degree must be from a Canadian or US university
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to independently own features and projects end-to-end
