Job Title: Machine OperatorJob Description

The Machine Operator works on the plastic production line, operating CNC routers and other industrial equipment to process materials, inspect parts, and prepare orders for shipment. This role involves safely lifting heavy materials, accurately measuring components, and using various machines and tools to support efficient and high-quality production.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC router machines and other production equipment on the plastic side of the facility to process and finish parts according to specifications.
• Load and unload materials onto machines, ensuring proper placement, secure setup, and safe handling throughout the production process.
• Lift materials and products weighing up to 75 pounds in a safe and controlled manner, following established safety procedures.
• Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet required tolerances.
• Check and inspect parts during and after production to confirm quality, accuracy, and adherence to production standards.
• Press machine control buttons and follow operating procedures to start, stop, and adjust equipment as needed during production runs.
• Fill, package, and prepare material orders for shipment to customers, ensuring correct quantities, labeling, and documentation.
• Operate overhead cranes to move and position materials and products safely within the facility.
• Use forklifts to transport materials, load and unload items, and support overall material handling operations.
• Operate metal saws, shears, and lasers as required to cut and shape materials according to order specifications.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate tools and equipment correctly to maintain a safe work area.
• Support general labor tasks in the production area as needed, contributing to smooth and efficient workflow.
• Work assigned shifts reliably and maintain consistent attendance to support production schedules and team performance.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a machine operator or in a similar production role.
• Ability to operate CNC router machines and other production machinery, or strong willingness to learn under supervision.
• Comfort and capability to lift up to 75 pounds safely on a regular basis.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for verifying dimensions and part specifications.
• Experience with general labor tasks in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Familiarity with power tools and basic industrial equipment used in production settings.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate overhead cranes and forklifts in a safe and controlled manner.
• Attention to detail when checking parts and preparing orders for shipment.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts (1pm–11pm or 6am–2pm).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with plastic parts or in a plastics manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Previous experience operating metal saws, shears, and lasers is an advantage.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with changing priorities.
• Strong work ethic, willingness to perform general labor tasks, and ability to follow instructions closely.
• Commitment to safety and proper use of industrial equipment and tools.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fairly clean production facility focused on plastic parts. Employees work with CNC routers, overhead cranes, forklifts, metal saws, shears, lasers, and other power tools as part of daily operations. The role is available on two primary shifts: 1pm–11pm and 6am–2pm. Work involves regular lifting of heavy materials and standing for extended periods while operating machinery and handling parts. Employees receive a $200 voucher for Red Wing work boots, and appropriate work footwear is expected to support safety and comfort on the production floor.

This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
