Your impact
At Jacobs we are continuing to grow our Digital & Data Hub in Krakow, delivering digital, data, and AI solutions across industries including Energy and Utilities, Defence and Security, Transport, Government and Public Services, Health and Life Sciences, Financial Services, and Manufacturing.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate enterprise-scale data solutions, with a strong focus on on-premises and hybrid data platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can work with complex enterprise data ecosystems, modernize legacy platforms, and build reliable, secure, and scalable data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in on-premises and hybrid environments
- Integrate data from databases, applications, files, APIs, and legacy systems
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes, SQL queries, and data transformations
- Design and maintain data models, data warehouses, data marts, and analytical layers
- Work closely with architecture, infrastructure, security, and application teams
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data platforms and pipelines
- Implement data quality, logging, observability, and operational best practices
- Support modernization and migration from legacy data platforms
- Provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers
Here's what you'll need
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with on-premises enterprise data environments
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar
- Experience building production-grade ETL or ELT pipelines
- Experience with Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, or similar big data technologies
- Programming or scripting experience in Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, Scala, or similar
- Experience with orchestration or ETL tools such as Airflow, Control-M, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or similar
- Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, access control, and deployment environments
- Experience working with Linux and/or Windows Server environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ownership mindset
- Ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with hybrid cloud architectures using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- Experience with Teradata, Netezza, Cloudera, SAP BW, or other enterprise data platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, DevOps, containerization, and automated deployments
- Experience with data governance, metadata, lineage, or cataloging tools
- Experience in consulting, product-driven, or multi-project environments
