Systems Engineer, E/E Architecture, Digital Systems (m/f/d)

Rheinmetall

The Digital Systems Architect is responsible for the structural design of the vehicle’s E/E (electrical/electronic) system architecture and ensures that all vehicle functions—including the logical architecture derived from the functional design, as well as software, assemblies, and communication—are consistently allocated and integrated. This is where the specifications for the individual assemblies are developed for further development.

  • Defining the vehicle’s overall E/E architecture in coordination with the platform architect
  • Structuring the assembly and component architecture, communication architecture, and power architecture
  • Defining and modeling the technical and physical architecture using SysML and in accordance with the Rheinmetall architecture framework
  • Allocation of the logical architecture to the subassemblies within the physical architecture
  • Modeling of the interfaces, data flow (network protocols), and IT infrastructure of all E/E subassemblies of the entire vehicle, resulting in the creation of the E/E topology
  • Integration of safety, cybersecurity, and EMC requirements, as well as systemic latency requirements and load management for the assemblies, into the E/E architecture
  • Trade-off analysis and, if necessary, architecture decisions in collaboration with the platform architect
  • Preparation of specifications for the respective assemblies
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, automotive engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience in systems engineering, system requirements, and MBSE for mechatronic products
  • Experience with vehicle development using the V-model and E/E architecture is a plus
  • Experience using DOORS Classic, PREE-Vision, and Rhapsody
  • Experience in SysML modeling and top-down system design
  • Experience with centralized vs. distributed architectures, as well as domain, zone, and centralized architectures
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21434, and ISO 15288
  • Very good written and spoken German and good written and spoken English
  • Strong analytical and systemic thinking across domains
  • Ability to abstract complex systems, structure architectures, and reduce complexity

Your strengths and experience count at Rheinmetall, even if you may not meet all of the listed requirements. We look forward to receiving applications from candidates (m/f/d) who are keen to make a difference and take on responsibility. We value individuality and equal opportunities.
