Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Wire EDM Operator & Programmer to join a precision manufacturing team in San Diego. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining Wire EDM equipment to produce high-precision components that meet engineering and quality specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong machining background, excellent attention to detail, and experience working with tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate Wire EDM machines to manufacture precision components
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and job travelers
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM software and/or manual programming methods
- Select appropriate wire, guides, power settings, and machining parameters
- Perform machine setups, fixturing, and part alignment
- Monitor machining operations and make process adjustments as needed
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment
- Maintain strict quality standards and tolerance requirements
- Troubleshoot machine, programming, and process issues
- Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area
- Document production data, inspection results, and program revisions
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturing processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical school or machining certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of Wire EDM programming and operating experience
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and EDM processes
- Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T
- Experience using CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with Wire EDM equipment from major manufacturers
- Ability to maintain extremely tight tolerances
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, tooling, or precision manufacturing environments
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
- Experience programming complex contours, multiple-pass operations, and fine surface finishes

- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work overtime or extended shifts as needed
