About the Team

This position is part of ZF’s ADAS & HPC business, which is entering an exciting new phase of growth and transformation within the advanced automotive technology space. The business unit is planned for divestiture, creating a unique opportunity to help shape the future of next-generation driver assistance and high-performance computing technologies.

What you can look forward to as a Mechanical Design Engineer (HPC) [f/m/d]:

  • Design and development of space-constrained packaging structures for electrical assemblies—including packaging and interconnection technologies, as well as housing and cooling structures—for domain control units, through to series production readiness.
  • You work independently on the development of housing and cooling concepts for ZF central control units (autonomous driving).
  • Another key focus is the development of foundations and methods, as well as the introduction of new technologies.
  • Close collaboration with suppliers, e.g., in tool and concept development.
  • Specification and evaluation of necessary conceptual studies.
  • Commissioning and evaluation of results for necessary simulations.
  • Documenting development activities.
  • Close collaboration with development teams at other locations, with customers and suppliers.
  • Analysis of damage resulting from component or system tests, in collaboration with the Test Department. Derivation of optimizations for the component.

Your profile as a Mechanical Design Engineer (HPC) [f/m/d]:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor / Master), with at least 4 years of professional experience.
  • Very good knowledge of CAD, ideally Creo.
  • 3D modelling (is a mandatory) and Drawing Creation (drawing creation is not a mandatory point).
  • Design Experience of plastic injection-molded, aluminium die-cast, and sheet metal parts.
  • Ideally, several years of professional experience in the field of "mechanics for control units".
  • Basic knowledge of assembly and interconnection technologies for control units.
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems and openness to new things.
  • Knowledge of requirements for ECU mechanical design.
  • High level of creativity.
  • Knowledge about electronics cooling concepts - nice to have.
  • Structured approach to work, initiative, as well as a confident demeanor and assertiveness.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Advanced English skills, both spoken and written.
