Robotics Integrations Engineer

Tesla

What To Expect

Tesla’s Factory Automation Robotics team builds fleet management and robot control software that operates autonomous robots and automation systems - including AMRs, ASRS, conveyance systems, and Optimus - across global manufacturing and warehouse facilities. These systems are production-critical and directly impact factory throughput, uptime, and scalability.

We are seeking a robotics software integrations engineer to lead deployments, provide production support, and drive continuous improvement of these applications across Tesla factories. The role blends a software engineering foundation with project leadership and cross-functional coordination to ensure reliable delivery, adoption, and sustained performance of robotics and automation systems.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable debugging distributed and edge software issues, representing factory needs to engineering teams, and guiding cross-functional groups through new deployments.

This position is based in Fremont, CA with up to 15% travel to Tesla factories worldwide for onsite project launches. As the primary on-call responder for production systems, this role requires after-hours availability to support incident response, including nights and weekends on a rotating schedule.

What You'll Do

Represent factory operations in the development and deployment of robotics applications, ensuring product capabilities meet operational requirements and KPIs are reported to leadership and engineering teams

Provide hands-on support for production systems, including triaging issues, debugging distributed and edge software, and driving short- and long-term resolutions with engineering teams

Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to gather requirements, prioritize feature requests, and validate solutions in live factory environments

Ensure system reliability and uptime through proactive monitoring, structured escalation, and continuous improvement initiatives, including workflow automation, documentation, and process standardization

Serve as incident commander for critical production issues, coordinating teams to resolve incidents, minimize downtime, and provide data-driven root cause analysis with corrective actions

Document troubleshooting procedures, provide user training, and mentor local engineers and technicians on software usage and best practices

What You'll Bring

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

3+ years of experience in a robotics or automation integration role, with demonstrated ability to deploy fleet management or robot control software, triage production incidents, and drive resolution across software, networking, and hardware layers

Strong organizational skills with experience in project management, deployment coordination, or program execution, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and operations teams

Experience with backend technologies (Go, C/C++, SQL) and DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD); familiarity with messaging systems (NATS, Kafka) or API frameworks (GraphQL, gRPC) is a plus

Experience in robotics, industrial automation, or fleet management systems is a plus
