We are looking for a driven, solution-oriented engineer who is passionate about advancing SOC IO technologies. In this role, you'll work with a collaborative team of experts to analyze, characterize, and validate key low-speed/high-speed IO features of SOC in iPhone systems. You will play a critical part in optimizing SOC IO architecture and system integration solutions for the whole iPhone product line.

Description

We are looking for candidates with a broad set of skills and interests, especially in the SOC IO area. We appreciate candidates have a strong curiosity and problem-solving mindset for technological challenges. Candidates will play a critical role in system SI validation, optimization, and integration of SoC IO interfaces from architecture concepts to final solutions for the whole iPhone product line. Day-to-day responsibility and tasks include electrical design review, test bringup/debug, and validation for SOC low-speed/high-speed IO interfaces. Routine responsibilities also include factory build support and cross-team/cross-region collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system IO design review
  • Perform system bring-up and debug, failure analysis, and triage.
  • Perform tests and measurements using lab instruments to debug and validate end-to-end IO interfaces and interconnection designs.
  • Hands-on experiments on SOC high-speed/low-speed interfaces characterization, TX/RX PHYs setting and tuning.
  • Support factory engineering build activities, traveling to different factories.
  • Develop and bring up factory test stations, develop test scripts, analyze test data, and provide design feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Major in EE or equivalents, BS and above, 3+ years of experience.
  • Solid EE fundamentals, knowledge in hardware system IO interfaces architecture.
  • Experience in signal integrity: modeling, simulation and analysis
  • Hands on experience with lab equipment for high speed IO characterization and debug: Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Logic Analyzer, Power Supply, DMM
  • Sufficient programming skill in Python/Lua.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills in English and Chinese

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of design and validation requirements for low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces: I2C/SMBus, SPI, SPMI, USB, PCIe, LPDP, DisplayPort, Clocks
  • Solid knowledge on SerDes and equalization
  • Experience in RF/IO Coex issue debug
  • Good understanding of SOC architecture and circuits will be a plus
  • Data analysis and visualization using scripts
