Job Title: Pharmacy Support Associate

Job Description

  • We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Support Associate to accurately and efficiently fill prescription requests in an automated refill setting.
  • The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a Pharmacist to prepare, package, sort, and distribute medications in a fast-paced production environment.
  • The role requires maintaining a consistent workflow to meet daily production goals and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules, and retrieve and process Unit of Use and Bulk items.
  • Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medication on labeled shelves, verifying size and strength before filling orders.
  • Replenish medication in automated cells, opening large quantities of bottles and cases.
  • Apply basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed for prescriptions.
  • Use a handheld scanner to scan barcodes for replenishment.
  • Demonstrate problem resolution skills by recognizing, addressing, and escalating issues.
  • Maintain focus and acute attention to detail during repetitive tasks to ensure absolute accuracy.
  • Keep the pharmacy floor in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Understand and comply with federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Process orders for shipping, including folding and packing paperwork and attaching shipping labels.
  • Fill, pack, and ship prescriptions with 100% accuracy and efficiency using Standard Operating Procedures and supported hardware and software.
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to and promote the company's Shared ICARE Principles.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required based on business needs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in pharmacy, data entry, order entry, filling, and pharmacy support.
  • Knowledge in medication refills and customer service.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Visual acuity to read computer screens, handheld scanners, and labels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and consistently carry 20-30 lbs of merchandise.
  • Standing and walking continuously for 8 hours per day.
  • Requires bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, and pinching.
  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of pharmacy operations and professional standards.
  • Warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and quality-focused.
  • Positive attitude and ability to handle adversity and ambiguity well.

Work Environment

  • The role is set in a climate-controlled environment with a schedule that includes Sunday from 2pm to 10:30pm, Tuesday to Thursday from 6pm to 10:30pm, and Friday from 2pm to 10:30pm.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
