Rate: $57/hr
Overview
We are seeking a highly hands-on Backend Engineer with strong Python expertise to design, build, and scale modern API-driven services within a large enterprise environment.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on ownership, writes clean and scalable code, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting with a strong emphasis on continuous learning and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based backend services with a focus on performance and scalability
- Build and support RESTful APIs, leveraging frameworks such as FastAPI
- Apply strong object-oriented design principles to develop maintainable and extensible systems
- Own features end-to-end, from design through implementation, testing, and support
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a hybrid environment
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and best practices
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of backend or software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in Python (most critical skill)
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles
- Experience working in Agile or fast-paced development environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of deliverables
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FastAPI or similar Python frameworks (Flask, Django)
- Exposure to AI/ML tools or concepts
- Experience working in financial services or regulated environments
- Familiarity with database design, querying, and performance optimization
- Ability to contribute to light front-end/UI development when needed

- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in Charlotte (Mon/Tue/Thurs)
