Software Engineer (Backend/Python)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Type: W2 Contract – 12 months
Work Schedule: Onsite-Hybrid
Schedule: 3 days in office
We are seeking a highly hands-on backend-focused engineer with strong Python expertise to help design, build, and evolve modern API-driven services. This role emphasizes execution, ownership, and continuous learning, with close collaboration across a distributed team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Python-based backend services, with Python being the most critical skill for this role.
- Build and support RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, with a focus on performance, scalability, and clean interfaces.
- Apply strong object-oriented design principles to create maintainable, extensible backend systems.
- Actively leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot) for coding, troubleshooting, and accelerating development workflows.
- Take a hands-on, execution-driven approach, owning features end-to-end from design through implementation and support.
- Collaborate closely with the team during core working hours (mornings, and three days per week on site in uptown charlotte — primarily Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
- Continuously experiment with new tools, frameworks, and approaches, demonstrating a strong passion for learning and rapid skill acquisition.
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
- Experience working in Financial Services or other highly regulated environments.
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts, tools, or platforms.
- Full stack development experience including working with databases (schema design, queries, performance considerations) and the ability to contribute to light UI/front-end work when needed
