Software Engineer – Distributed Systems – Storage Protocols

Location: Nasuni IIC Hyderabad, India - Hybrid 3 days onsite / 2 days offsite

Role Overview

Nasuni is hiring a Software Engineer to build and enhance backend services and platform components that support Nasuni’s distributed data infrastructure.

This role focuses on writing high-quality, testable code, contributing to storage-integrated services, and operating within cloud-native environments. You will work closely with senior engineers to develop scalable systems and improve reliability through automated testing and CI/CD practices.

This role is ideal for engineers with strong programming fundamentals and early experience in backend or platform systems who want to grow into distributed systems and storage-integrated environments. It is not intended for candidates focused primarily on frontend or manual QA roles.

Level & Scope Definition

• Contribute to the development of backend services and platform components
• Work under guidance to implement features in distributed and cloud-native systems
• Participate in design discussions, with increasing ownership over time
• Write production-quality code with strong testing practices
• Collaborate with QE, SRE, and senior engineers to improve system reliability
• Build foundational expertise in distributed systems and storage integrations

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services and APIs for distributed systems
• Contribute to integrations with storage protocols (NFS, SMB, S3)
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Develop automated tests (unit, integration, API) to ensure reliability
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows
• Debug issues across application, storage, and networking layers
• Participate in code reviews and improve code quality standards
• Collaborate with QE and SRE teams to improve observability and testability
• Learn and apply distributed systems concepts such as fault tolerance and data consistency
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code copilots, test generation tools) to improve productivity while validating correctness

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience
• Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Java, or C++
• Experience building backend services or APIs
• Experience writing automated tests (unit and integration)
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
• Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools and validating generated outputs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes
• Exposure to storage systems or file protocols (NFS, SMB, S3)
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (pytest, JUnit, etc.)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with observability tools (logs, metrics, tracing)

Ideal Qualifications

• Hands-on experience debugging distributed systems issues
• Experience contributing to storage-integrated services
• Experience improving test coverage and reliability in production systems
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve development or testing workflows

Experience Guidelines

• 2–5 years total experience
• 1–3 years in backend or platform development
• Exposure to distributed systems and cloud-native environments preferred
