Position Information
TxDOT's San Angelo District is looking for a roadway Maintenance Intern for the Robert Lee Maintenance Office.
This position is for an internship during the months of May - August with the potential for year-round part-time employment.
Duties for this position will definitely include working outdoors, and learning about roadway maintenance processes, materials, and safe practices; and may also include assisting with road repairs and sign repair/replacement, flagging traffic in work zones, tree trimming, litter pick-up, yard maintenance and much more. The work schedule will still allow plenty of time for summer fun on the weekends: Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:30 pm.
This internship will provide current high school and college students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while earning a competitive salary. To qualify, students must:
Be 16 years old
Be a U.S. Citizen or be eligible to work in the U.S.
Be currently enrolled as a student at a high school, technical school, college, or university

Performs entry-level and routine maintenance work. Work involves physical labor tasks such as: plant and landscape maintenance, maintenance of comfort stations and rights-of-way, minor equipment repair, and assisting with roadway repair. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.
