This Sr. Process Engineer – Adhesives role drives the development and optimization of resin and adhesive systems from lab to production. You will lead new and modified adhesive formulations, define processing and handling parameters, and refine methods used to manufacture and evaluate adhesive and resin products.
This position is located in the Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is not offered.
You will be the go-to expert for the resin/adhesive lab, guiding technicians, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing process improvements that boost quality, yield, and cost efficiency. You will develop and test new adhesive systems and reformulations, ensuring they meet performance targets and scale smoothly into full production.
A core focus of this position is regulatory and product compliance, including REACH and TSCA, as well as monitoring upcoming regulatory changes and managing supplier and material risks. You will assess chemical suppliers, secure alternate sources when needed, and provide technical support on adhesive-related questions. The role is highly collaborative, working closely with manufacturing, quality, sales, and marketing from early R&D through post-launch support.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
5+ years’ experience working with adhesive or resin systems in a manufacturing environment, including production support.
Strong R&D or product development background in resins/adhesives, with hands-on formulation, lab testing, and scale-up experience.
Practical lab skills using common production and test equipment (mixing, milling, weighing, measuring).
Deep knowledge of epoxy, phenolic, urethane, solvent-based, and related adhesive or resin chemistries.
Experience with chemical regulatory compliance (e.g., REACH, TSCA) and managing regulatory or supply risks.
Proven ability to lead and coach lab technicians, partner with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects on time.
Track record in process improvement, with strong attention to detail, organization, and a proactive mindset.
Clear and confident communicator in English, able to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
