Posting Summary

The Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation is conducting research to develop durable, sustainable, resilient and smart transportation infrastructure. We are currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in these research areas.

The successful candidate will report to Prof. Hao Wang and Prof. Nenad Gucunski at CAIT and will work independently associated with different projects related to non-destructive testing and evaluation of civil infrastructure. The candidate is expected to perform both fundamental and applied researches and need publish research findings in journal and conferences. The candidate will also assist in the development and writing of research proposals for external funding

Minimum Education and Experience

This position requires a PhD in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering fields.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The candidate should have experience in the following two areas:

1) non-destructive testing/evaluation and structure health monitoring, primarily reinforced concrete structures, using mechanical, acoustic, electromagnetic, electrical, and electrochemical methods and devices, such as ultrasonic methods or GPR,

2) application of numerical simulation and artificial intelligence for advanced modeling and analysis.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated and can think broadly and conceptually and formulate creative, sophisticated solutions to complex problems, prioritize workload, and work independently with general supervision.

This position requires good communication and presentation skills, and strong proficiency in technical writing and editing. The individual will be expected to hold high standards in how information is developed and presented. In addition, this position will require the ability to manage, document, and organize multiple simultaneous projects.
