Senior Software Engineer - Credit Builder Experience

As a Senior Mobile Engineer on Kikoff’s core credit-building team, you’ll shape the mobile experiences that define how our users build and maintain strong credit. You’ll work across the heart of our product, crafting intuitive, high-performance interfaces that guide users through credit actions, subscription flows, credit report insights, financial monitoring, and interactions with our AI-driven smart credit coach. Your work will directly influence how millions of users understand, improve, and take control of their credit journey.

In this role, you’ll architect and evolve mobile systems that must be highly reliable, responsive, and adaptive as we scale. You’ll design user-centric credit-building workflows, collaborate closely with backend engineers to integrate with credit bureaus and financial data providers, and help refine the subscription and payment experiences that support our product. You’ll also contribute to the user-facing expression of our emerging AI coaching platform, working with product, design, data, and backend teams to transform complex credit insights into simple, delightful, and actionable guidance on mobile.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build and scale a top finance app on iOS and Android that directly impacts the financial lives of hundreds of thousands of users, growing to millions as we expand our advancing, credit building, and future banking products.
• Own end-to-end feature development across the user lifecycle - from the first identity verification and onboarding flows to credit report deep-dives, financial management, and AI-driven credit coaching.
• Integrate with financial service providers (Plaid, Stripe, Tabapay) and internal APIs, building robust mobile interfaces that handle sensitive financial data with accuracy and security at scale.
• Develop reusable components, design system elements, and feature scaffolds that accelerate experimentation velocity across our multi-brand mobile platform (Kikoff, Grant, App Factory).
• Enhance mobile platform foundations - improving build systems, CI/CD pipelines, code generation tooling, and developer velocity for our growing team.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of mobile development experience with a track record of building and scaling production apps across iOS and/or Android.
• Strong mobile architecture skills - deep understanding of state management patterns, app architecture (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture), and building maintainable codebases at scale.
• Production app ownership - you've shipped consumer-facing apps at scale, handled crashes, edge cases, and maintained features through multiple releases.
• A mobile platform expertise - solid foundation in iOS (Swift/UIKit/SwiftUI) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java/Jetpack Compose) development.
• Testing mindset - comfortable writing unit, integration, and UI tests; you build quality in from the start.
• API integration experience - skilled at working with REST APIs, handling async operations, error states, and building resilient network layers.

Ideal Candidate Also Has

• Flutter/Dart experience - familiarity with Flutter framework, cross-platform development, or strong willingness to learn (our codebase is Flutter-based).
• Fintech experience - background with payment systems, banking APIs (Plaid, Stripe), identity verification (Sentilink, Persona), or financial services infrastructure.
• Technical leadership - ability to own complex mobile initiatives end-to-end, from architecture design through implementation, testing, and rollout.
• Mentorship - help level up the team through code reviews, design docs, technical guidance, and establishing mobile best practices.
• Impact focus - balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery - you know when to build for scale vs. ship fast and learn.
• Cross-functional collaboration - partner effectively with backend engineers, product, and designers to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences.
• Operational excellence - take ownership of the reliability and performance of features you build, monitoring production issues and iterating quickly.

Location: Hybrid, 3 days onsite in San Francisco, CA.
