The Intern, 3D Technical Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the execution of immersive retail and experiential environments by ensuring that all 3D assets are accurate, optimized, and ready for production. This role bridges the gap between design vision and technical delivery—maintaining material libraries, following asset workflows, and troubleshooting model issues to support seamless handoffs between creative, engineering, and production teams. With a strong understanding of rendering requirements, model integrity, and fabrication compatibility, the Technical Coordinator enables teams to visualize, iterate, and deliver high-impact spatial solutions efficiently. Precision, adaptability, and strong collaboration skills are essential in driving excellence across branded environments and physical design experiences.

Shift available: Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Compensation: $20.00 Hourly

A variety of these traits will help land you this job if you:

  • working towards a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in industrial design, computer graphics, digital design, video games, or a related field
  • minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience working with 3ds max including advanced modeling rendering and file optimization
  • proven experience 1+ years in 3d asset management file organization optimization and troubleshooting within design or production environments
  • strong understanding of industry standard file formats such as obj fbx stl and step and workflow compatibility across design visualization and fabrication pipelines
  • interest in and willingness to learn the fundamentals and intricacies of retail design

On top of that you must:

  • demonstrates intermediate skills in 3DS Max with Corona and/or V-Ray for high quality modeling and rendering (3D software proficiency)
  • utilizes SketchUp Cinema 4D C4D and other 3D platforms as needed to support diverse project requirements (platform versatility)
  • has basic understanding of 3D material creation and application to 3D objects for simulating the appearance of a variety of surfaces (3D material understanding)
  • converts and streamlines 3D files for performance and compatibility resolving common technical issues with geometry UVs or formats (file optimization & troubleshooting)
  • troubleshoots technical file issues such as geometry errors or rendering inconsistencies with a proactive solution oriented mindset (problem solving)
  • ensures precision in asset preparation version control and file organization to maintain quality and consistency across projects (attention to detail)
  • responds quickly to shifting project requirements software updates or workflow changes while maintaining efficiency and accuracy (adaptability)
  • balances multiple asset related tasks and support responsibilities across concurrent projects and deadlines (time management)
  • takes initiative to contribute to and improve 3D asset libraries naming conventions and workflow processes with manager oversight (ownership)
  • stays current with emerging 3D tools rendering techniques and file optimization strategies to enhance team capabilities (curiosity & learning agility)

In this position, you will:

  • collaborate with designers to prepare 3D models and visual components for use in concept development and design presentations (asset preparation)
  • ensure 3D assets are optimized for visual clarity efficient rendering and downstream production workflows (optimization for output)
  • maintain organized material libraries texture databases and shared 3D resources to support active and future projects (library & resource management)
  • uphold standards for file naming version control and archiving to ensure consistency and easy asset retrieval (workflow consistency)
  • utilize asset management platforms to streamline design workflows track file usage and facilitate clean project hand offs (asset management tools)
  • convert 3D assets into production ready formats such as obj stl step and fbx tailored for internal stakeholders or vendor requirements (file conversion)
  • reduce polygon counts and refine geometry to improve rendering performance and production tool compatibility (geometry simplification)
  • diagnose and repair issues in 3D models such as non manifold geometry inverted normals or poor uv mapping to ensure accuracy and usability (model troubleshooting)
  • partner with it and technical teams to explore new software tools plug ins and systems that support 3D design operations (technical collaboration)
