Mission

The OCS Senior Design Engineer leads the design, integration, and implementation of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) for major railway infrastructure projects, such as the Metro Manila Subway and North-South Commuter Railway extensions. This role ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable electrification solutions by producing detailed designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to the following:

• Lead the detailed design and engineering of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and design team members, providing technical guidance and ensuring quality deliverables.
• Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, signaling, power supply) to ensure seamless integration of OCS within overall rail infrastructure.
• Review and approve technical documents, design calculations, and vendor submissions related to OCS equipment and materials.
• Conduct advanced technical assessments including load and tension analysis, structural evaluations, and system reliability studies.
• Manage design interfaces and resolve complex technical issues to prevent project delays or quality issues.
• Support procurement activities through evaluation of vendor proposals, technical clarifications, and contract management assistance.
• Lead support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases by providing expert engineering input and resolving on-site challenges.
• Ensure all design activities adhere to local and international railway standards, codes, and regulations.
• Participate in project progress reviews, risk assessments, and quality audits to maintain high standards of delivery and safety.

Profile

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering

Desired Knowledge / Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the design of Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS), including preparation of preliminary, pre-final, and final design drawings and documentation for railway electrification projects.
• Experience in Japanese catenary design is highly desirable, reflecting the company's involvement in international projects and adherence to specific standards.
• Ability to analyze and review design and other submission documents prepared by CAD engineers and other engineers, ensuring technical integration of overhead contact line systems.
• Experience in participating in technical liaison meetings with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, facilitating effective communication and project coordination.
• Capability to provide on-the-job training to CAD engineers, junior engineers, and graduate engineers, fostering team development and cross-departmental knowledge sharing.
