The University Library at the University of Wisconsin–Stout invites applications for two visionary academic librarian positions: the Open Innovation & Engagement Librarian (.92 FTE) and the AI Literacy Librarian (1.0 FTE). These dynamic roles reflect UW-Stout’s mission as Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University, advancing applied learning, workforce readiness, and innovation through next-generation educational technologies. We seek forward-thinking, collaborative, and service-oriented professionals committed to shaping the future of teaching, learning, and research in a polytechnic context.
Both positions report to the University Library Director, or designated supervisor within the library, and join a creative, collegial team working at the intersection of digital pedagogy, open resources, and emerging technologies. Candidates may apply to either or both positions.

Open Innovation & Engagement Librarian
The Open Innovation and Engagement Librarian champions the creation, adoption, and evolution of open educational resources (OER) that support high-impact learning experiences aligned with UW-Stout’s mission as Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University. This role supports faculty in developing affordable, accessible, and engaging learning materials. The position amplifies the use of digital learning tools through course-integrated instruction; embeds OER into polytechnic pathways, including workforce-ready credentials; and enhances the library’s outreach.

AI Literacy Librarian
As artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes the landscape of knowledge creation, access, and application, UW-Stout seeks an AI Literacy Librarian. This position will bridge the gap between traditional library services and emerging AI-driven technologies and help shape the future of academic librarianship at the University.
The AI Librarian will provide consultations, training, and resources to support the academic community in effectively applying AI in research and learning. The role involves integrating AI literacy into the library instruction program. Additionally, the AI Librarian will collaborate on campus-wide initiatives to foster interdisciplinary discussions on AI, contribute to advancing digital literacy, and contribute strategies that promote responsible use of AI across the university.
This position is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives at the intersection of information science, emerging technologies, and inclusive pedagogy. The successful candidate will champion AI literacy as a core component of digital citizenship and workforce readiness in a polytechnic context.

The University Archives, part of the University Library, coordinates records management operations for the UW-Stout campus and collects and preserves locally created university records with enduring value. Stout’s archivists provide robust publicly accessible digital collections, interpretive instructional sessions, and reference assistance to support the applied research of faculty, staff, and student researchers from a broad range of academic disciplines. Stout’s Area Research Center serves as a constituent collection of the Wisconsin Historical Society representing Barron, Dunn, and Pepin Counties.
