DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The phlebotomist is responsible to the Laboratory Manager. The phlebotomist collects venous and capillary blood samples and a variety of other specimen types from pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients utilizing approved techniques. The phlebotomist performs other laboratory duties including use of the laboratory computer system, answers phones, receives patients, communicates laboratory data to ordering parties, maintains a filing system, charts patient reports and provides data collection support. As needed, Phlebotomist will put in rotation staffing at GRH draw stations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred a high school degree or GED equivalent.
- Current American Heart Association, BLS certificate or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Possesses good verbal, written and reading skills.
- Past experience should show satisfactory or above satisfactory job performance.
- Possesses excellent interpersonal skills to relate to co-workers, patients, and other health care workers.
- Computer and/or keyboard experience desired.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to collect venous and capillary blood samples and other body fluid samples from pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Possesses good manual dexterity skills as well as hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to maintain an organized office work area.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Compensation
$18.35 - $26.76 Per Hour DOE
